We asked our sellers to send us any tips they had for first time sellers.  Below is what they sent to us.
Please note that opening day has meant long, long checkout lines. We only have one line for regular checkout
and express due to floor space.  Please be patient as we are trying to check out shoppers as quickly as possible.
On opening day, your time to checkout time could be as long as 2-4 hours so bring a friend so you can take turns
shopping while waiting to check out!

Please keep in mind that these suggestions are from sellers and not from Kidsignments although we
believe the following short list are great tips:

1. Be prepared for long lines if you shop the preview sale or opening day.
We have left the sale after midnight(preview event) for the last several events.
2. Bring a snack, drink and patience when you come to shop.  Try to eat before shopping.
3. Make sure to bring a list with you.
4.  If you are paying with check or MasterCard/Visa, bring your driver's license with you.
5. Bring something to carry your finds with and make sure it is large enough for everything and
easy to pull when fully loaded to the top with items.
6. Check the drawing board to know if you won an expedited checkout!
7. Be nice to the other shoppers and the volunteers. We are all in this to benefit our kids and it can be
alot of fun even though it is very crowded.  If you are looking for something special, ask someone!
8. Start early tagging, use cardstock paper, strong safety pins, and wire hangers (if possible). Follow
the directions on the site and you will be fine.
9. The first time selling may be overwhelming but don't get frustrated. You really will be a pro at this within one sale!

Now, here are tips from our sellers. Please note that many sellers have sent in the same suggestions.
Also, many are giving tips for shopping the preview or opening day  when they refer to long lines and the crowds.

SELLER TIPS
(from actual sellers)

Allow yourself plenty of time when you drop off your items.  It takes a while to figure out where everything goes
AS THE SEASON CHANGES, START PREPARING BY HANGING THE ITEMS APPROPRIATELY.  AS THE TIME APPROACHES FOR DROP-OFF, TAG SLOWLY UNTIL THE JOB GETS DONE.  THEN, IT'S NOT SO OVERWHELMING!
As you get items for the sale, tag them then
Ask reasonable prices for your merchandise
Attach tags securely
Be a shopper first, you get an idea of what to expect
Be organized and have your things neat
Be organized, start early.
Be patient, it's worth it.
be prepared for the long lines and that not all of your stuff will sell
Be prepared for the weather (even if you don’t think it will be that bad) to wait in line at the seller preview
BE PREPARED TO  STAND IN LINE MONDAY (preview) NIGHT BEFORE YOU SHOP AND AFTER.
Be prepared.
Be ready for things not be accepted
Be ready when you arrive!
BE SURE TO LABEL EVERYTHING JUST AS YOU TELL US TO.  IT MAKES IT SO EASY TO SHOP.
Be sure to price items that you would pay - think about it more of getting rid of clutter than making money - and try to put together as many outfits as possible - if you just have misc shirts or pants, that truly don't match, try & just sell 2 shirts or 3 pants together - they sell better than just 1 shirt does even at .50!!
BE VERY DILIGENT IN EXCLUDING STAINED OR WORN ITEMS
Be very organized
Bring a chair to wait in line for preview entrance and a book
Bring a container with wheels!
Bring clean, untorn and unbroken items.  Be on time for drop off.
Bring water/snacks, something with a handle to tow your stuff in, and loads of patience for the ready to pay line! (preview tip)
Bring your checkbook (for the preview sale)
BRING YOUR HUSBAND TO CARRY THE STUFF AT DROP OFF
Carefully read the instructions posted on the website!
Check and double check your items for stains
Check items for spots.
check to make sure outfits have same size top and bottom
Check your clothes for ANY stains
Clean everything before arriving!!
Come prepared with water & a cart w/wheels! (Preview tip)_
Come to preview night early
Dig through entire house to find things to sell and start early.
Do not bring kids! expect a long shopping day, also bring water & snacks
DO NOT OVERPRICE!!!!!
Do NOT overprice..there is a lot on the floor competing with you
Do not price too high if you want it to sell.
Do NOT use clear packing tape (may ruin your item as it is removed, i.e. takes paint off toys, puzzles, etc.)
Don’t over price, unless you want to take it back home.
Don’t overprice your stuff.  Price it to sell.  If you wouldn’t pay that price for it don’t price it like that.
Don’t price items for just the ½ on Saturday.
Don’t price your items too high, you will be disappointed.
Don't be offended if the checker sees a stain that you didn't.... it's not personal
Don't be offended if they give back some of your clothes
Don't bother bringing items that have any stains...save yourself the time and just donate them
Don't get overwhelmed!
Don't over-price items, as a shopper I tend to skip over and not purchase over-priced items. Also, make sure your tags are very secure on the item your selling. Lost tags make the item unsellable.
Don't overprice.  Be reasonable, and your items will almost always sell at full price.
Don't panic - it will be fine
Don't price too high
Don't price too high bc you don't want to cart all that stuff home!
Don't use N/R if you are trying to sell as much stuff as possible.
DON'T WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE TO START TAGGING, IT TAKES LONGER THEN YOU THINK!
Double check clothes for Stains
Drop off early – it’s easier to get the clothes on the racks.
EAT DINNER BEFORE THE PREVIEW SALE, WEAR COMFORTABLE SHOES, BRING WATER AND A SNACK, BRING A LAUNDRY BASKET AND BELT, MEASURE YOUR CHILDREN AND THEIR FEET BEFORE THE SALE THEN TAKE A MEASURING TAPE TO THE SALE TO MEASURE CLOTHES AND SHOES TO GET CORRECT SIZING, MAKE A LIST OF SIZES AND SHOE SIZES BEFORE SHOPPING, MAKE A LIST OF MUST HAVES & BASIC ITEMS TO SHOP FOR
Eat dinner before you come to preview night (or bring cash for water/ chick-fil-a)
Enjoy and know it will be crowded- everyone is really nice just be patient and kind :  )   (Preview tip & drop off too)
FOLLOW DIRECTIONS FROM WEBSITE AND YOU'LL HAVE NO PROBLEMS
For preview, don't come hungry and thirsty and plan on staying until at least 11p
Get a good nights rest and wear comfy shoes
GET EXTRA HANGERS AT DOLLAR GENERAL 12 FOR $1.00, TELL ALL YOUR FRIENDS TO SHOP THE SALE
Get in line early! Don't try to sort, label, and pin all in one day.
Get organized early
Get organized- save those hangers, plan all year and put things aside.
Get started early with tagging
Get started ironing / tagging early … it takes longer than you think
Get sturdy safety pins
Get tags printed at Kinkos, easy and cheap
Go to the preview!!!!
Have a system for tagging/hanging & enlist help!!
Have a tagging party with other sellers to make the process more fun.
Have clothes pre-sorted by size for easier hanging
Have fun!
have your clothes sorted by size before you bring them
high prices will not sell
I have found that outfits sell better than seperate pieces.
I recommend washing and ironing clothes if possible before dropping them off, mine sold so much better that way, but I only have one child!!!
If it's a fall/winter sale, leave the summer stuff at home.  It probably won't sell and we don't want to weed through it to get to the items we came after.
if possible, DO NOT bring children to the drop offs
if you have a lot of items, be prepared to be there a while (drop off)
If you have a particular brand to sell, list it on your tag. It helps if you are looking for particular brands (esp. boutique or popular brands) if you list so the buyer doesn't have to dig around for clothing tags.
In the future to make life easier, when storing your kids' outgrown clothes go ahead and leave them on the hangers.
Inspect  clothes under bright lights
Iron your clothes and pin them on the hangers real well
It always takes longer to tag than you think
It is larger than you can imagine
It seems like there is a lot of information and very overwhelming, but make sure to read everything b/c you will end up tagging wrong, etc. It is worth the time to sit down and learn everything before you begin.
ITS AWESOME be patient during checkout
Its better to price a little low and get rid of the stuff than price high and take it home and give it away later!!
Its hectic putting stuff out on the floor!
Juniors means juniors for presale, no kids (non-juniors) at pre-sales
KEEP PRICES REASONABLE,  CONSIDER IF YOU YOURSELF WOULD PAY THE PRICE YOUR ASKING.
Keep the quality of your clothes by washing them but letting them hang to dry. The colors do not fade, they don't shrink really and you can sell them for more money as a result!
Label and tag all you can for this sale....you will sell the most here.
Label containers per season. As clothing is outgrown, or toys have been played out, wash and clean. Put in containers. Make extra tags each season and they will roll-over to the next. Get a container for hangers and start collecting. It gets easier every season and makes it easier if you are a last minute tagger.
Label your stuff early so you aren't doing it the last night, keep a list of the things you were selling along with prices so you can match it up when you get your check
Line up early for the pre-sale
Look at your clothes in bright light
Lower priced items always sell. Look at your item and forget what you paid for it originally and think about how much you'd pay for it now that it's used, and then price it 1 dollar cheaper.
Make a list of all the items you are selling and the prices so you can keep up with what you are looking to make.  Sell it even if you still like it.  You won't care if you make about it after you make the money.
make extra tags---you'll find more stuff to sell as you start to go thru stuff.
make outfits, multiple items together, price things to sell-not overpriced
make sure  people know that you can only sell fall items in the fall and spring in the spring
make sure clothes are in nice condition
Make sure everything is secure on the hanger
make sure everything is secured to the items
Make sure everything is well taped/pinned together
Make sure tags are secure
Make sure you hang clothes with sizes together so easier when checkers are going thru them to check for stains, tears, etc.
make sure you only bring items you would purchase, clean no stains. Up to date styles and clean all toys
Make sure you read the on-line instructions carefully before tagging and bringing your items!
MAKE SURE YOUR ITEMS ARE "IN-STYLE & CURRENT" & CLEAN!
only put quality of items you would buy, no worn out toys or out of style clothes/ or decor
ONLY USE THE TAPE THAT YOU RECOMMEND( I WAS A CUTTER LAST YEAR)
Organize early
Organize early; hang up as they outgrow and designate a spot to put all your stuff so you don’t have to dig around at last minute
organize sizes prior to bringing to event
Pack snacks and expect to stand in line for 2 hours on preview night
PIN CLOTHES TO THE HANGER, THEY FALL OFF IF YOU DO NOT PIN THEM WELL
pin your clothing on tight
place books in ziplock bags to protect them
Plan plenty of time ahead, (a couple weekends), to get things together and ready to drop-off.
plastic hangers are too difficult to work with - go with wire
Please price your items asking yourself, would I pay that amount for this myself?
PREPARE FOR A LONG NIGHT ON PREVIEW NIGHT
PRICE AS LOW AS POSSIBLE & LET ITEMS GO FOR 1/2 PRICE ON SAT
price items $5 and less and bring something with wheels when you come to drop off your items.
Price items as if you would purchase them--do not price as if you are Macy's
price items as to what you would pay for them
price items to sell. if you love it and it meant a lot to you-keep it. people are looking for a bargain.
price low
price low but no too low
price low but reasonable
Price low enough to sell, unless you really want your stuff back.
Price reasonably, if I can buy something similar for the same price new at Target; I'm not going to spend that money on your used clothing.
Price to sell!
PRICE TO SELL, NOT BASED ON SENTIMENTALITY
price your clothes reasonably and present them well
price your items at 1/3 to 1/4 of original price- it works!
pricing is the key to sales, too many NR with high prices is not good. Reasonably priced items sells well during the week.
Print more tags than you think you'll need!!      You can always use them the next time.
Pull everything out first and organize by price.  Then print your tickets - that way you do not print too many of the wrong price.
Put your stuff on sturdy hangers and make sure it is pinned to it wellto be organized with all the things you need to have to price your items, have space
Read all info on website carefully; it's all there
READ ALL THE INSTRUCTIONS, TAKE NO SHORT CUTS
Read all the tips you are given and just about everything sells as long as its kid related.
Read the LONG emails CAREFULLY
Read the web site - it's full of great info.  Plan on being at the sellers sale for several hours - so much to look at and such long lines!
realize your items aren't as precious to others as they are to you.
REMEMBER THESE ARE NOT NEW ITEMS, KEEP YOUR PRICES REASONABLE
Reserve Early
Save all wire hangers from previous sale.
Save the tags you print that are not used for the next sale
SELLERS HAVE TO DISTRIBUTE THEIR OWN ITEMS, SO ALLOW TIME TO DO SO AND DON'T BRING KIDS OR HUSBAND TO WAIT IN CAR.
separate memories from true value--ask a friend or neighbor if they would pay cash for that ripped tee before putting it into your  sale pile. become familiar with sale prices before tagging, start tagging as soon as you get your number
Set prices you'd be willing to pay if you were shopping for the items.
Skip the pre-sale night!!
Staff is VERY helpful
Staff is VERY helpful - ask them if you have a question
START EARLY ON TAGS, LET  YOUR FAMILY/KIDS HELP YOU SORT AND HANG AND PUT ON TAGS, PRICE REASONABLE TO BEGIN WITH SO THAT IT SELLS AT YOUR FULL PRICE INSTEAD OF HALF PRICE (THINK OF WHAT YOU'D REALLY WANT TO PAY FOR IT AS A BUYER) ,  HAVE AN EXTRA TAG READY ON ANY BIG ITEMS YOU'RE NOT SURE HOW TO PRICE AND GET HELP W/ THAT AT DROP OFF, LET IT GO FOR HALF PRICE ON THE LAST DAY, LET IT GO TO CHARITY IF IT DOESN'T SELL (YOU WON'T HAVE TO COME BACK FOR PICK UP AND SOMEONE ELSE COULD REALLY USE IT)
start early tagging- do NOT wait until the last minute
Start early tagging!  Which Jeri is so good to already remind us about.
Start early you've got more to sell than you think.  Don't mark your things NR, if they didn't sell by then you priced them too high.
START EARLY! Tag items a little at a time whenever you have time so it won't seem overwhelming.  Also, start stockpiling hangers and safety pins early so you won't run out.
Start hanging and tagging right away.  You usually have more than you think.
Start pulling out things you wish to sell early.
start saving your hangers now
START TAGGING EARLY AND SORT INTO SIZES AT HOME
Start tagging early because you will keep finding more stuff to put in the sale.
Stay with the season
Stick to 1/4 to 1/3 pricing!
tag everything properly and check for stains very well. DO NOT BRING THINGS YOU WOULD NOT BUY FOR YOUR OWN KIDS!
tag items at the end of the season so they are ready for the sale ...for example when putting away things from this summer and preparing for fall go ahead and prepare the summer things you will sell so they are all ready to go for the Feb sale
tag properly
tag your items early. it takes longer than you think. also, bring some blank tags with you whether you're unsure about price or not. You may notice that you have priced something too high when you get there and having blank tags makes it easy to change your price
Take a couple of hours everyday to do your tagging and hanging, so it isn't so stressful at the end
Take the day off, make it a day event (you won't get in and out in an hour, bring baskets, come early.
Take the time to make sure your clothes look nice on the hanger
take the time to prepare per instructions
Take time to clean, press and hang clothes to look their BEST.
Talk to someone who's shopped before don't set prices too high
The lines are worth it
The work is worth it.
this is the easiest way to get rid of your old stuff.
Try to price fair and use less NR's
use a tiny hole punch on your tags - less punctured fingers!; have a "tagging party" to get it done fast and fun.
USE A UNIQUE COLOR FOR TAGS, I LOVE USING "GOO GONE" TO HELP CLEAN UP TOYS WITH NICKS THEY SOMETIMES GET, AND GUM ON CLOTHES AS IT GETS THE GUM OUT EASILY!  A SWEATER SAVER DOES WONDERS ON MORE THAN JUST SWEATERS - ANY CLOTH MATERIAL WITH FUZZIES (REGULAR CLOTHES AND SOMETIMES CLOTH TOYS)!!!  TAPING THE TOPS OF BAGGIES CLOSED WITH THE CLEAR PACKING TAPE ESPECIALLY WHEN USING THE BAGGIES TO BUNDLE TOYS TOGETHER, AS KIDS LOVE TO TRY TO OPEN BAGGIES TO PLAY WITH A TOY THEY ARE INTERESTED IN.  SAVE SAFETY PINS AND HANGERS FROM THE CONSIGNMENT SALES THAT THEY SHOP AT, AND OBVIOUSLY SAVE THE PINS AND HANGERS THEY RECEIVE FROM THEIR OWN DRY CLEANING TRIPS.
USE LOTS OF  SAFETY PINS
Use sturdy hangers, and sturdy pins
Use cardstock not flimsy paper
wear fanny pack so hands and arms are free.
When dropping off, allow yourself 3 hours to put your things up & dress cool you do alot of running around
when pricing, group like sizes and items together-it makes it much easier to put out on the floor during drop off.
when you price, keep like sizes and gender clothing together, ease for hanging up
Yes, make sure to let them know that they have to organize and hang all their clothes when they drop off.
You can get hangers from consignment shops.
You CANNOT be too organized! Also look for different/unusual containers to sell bulky items (grapefruit bags are wonderful for things with parts)
